Human Capacity Building Sector

KACAREGoal

The Human Capacity Development (HCD) Sector at the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) is dedicated to developing the human capabilities essential for advancing Saudi Arabia's energy sectors. The HCD Framework includes all Energy Sector Pillars including oil, gas, refining and petrochemicals, power, renewables and nuclear, clean hydrogen and carbon. It is designed to prepare and qualify a sustainable national workforce that will contribute to the energy transformation of the Kingdom.

This expansion to cover all energy pillars signifies our comprehensive approach to human capital development, ensuring that our workforce possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to drive progress in every energy domain.

As the national orchestrator and pacesetter for Energy Human Capacity Development, our mission aligns with Vision 2030, focusing on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in energy, thereby enhancing the nation’s competitive edge on the global stage.

The Human Capacity Development (HCD) Sector Overview

KACAREGoal

Workforce Planning and Project Implementation

We participate in preparing and implementing national plans for developing human capabilities in the energy fields. Key initiatives include:

  • Human Capacity Building Initiative for the Atomic and Renewable Energy Sectors under The National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) under Vision 2030, focusing on qualifying human capital for the nuclear and renewable energy sectors
  • The Human Capacity Development pillar within the Integrated Energy Strategy (IES), where our responsibilities extend to covering the national need for competencies across all energy pillars
KACAREGoal

Strategic Management of Projects, Programs, and Initiatives

We develop and implement projects, programs, and initiatives to ensure operational readiness for the energy sector projects. We deliver these initiatives under three key focus areas Workforce Planning and Intelligence Unit, Capacity Building and Value Proposition. Also, we focus our efforts to develop energy workforce in three categories:

  1. Universities Students
  2. Vocational Training
  3. Professional Skills Uplifting

Given the long-term nature of human capacity building, we follow a holistic approach that involves collaborating with relevant authorities and staying flexible to adapt to shifting requirements. This ensures operational readiness and maintains a workforce that is properly scaled and equipped to meet the evolving and dynamic needs of the energy sector.

KACAREGoal

Energy Ecosystem Human Capital Taskforce

K.A.CARE is also leading the Energy Ecosystem Human Capital Taskforce by managing joint initiatives and programs within the energy system through five key initiatives namely Shared Training, Energy Talks, HR Beyond Limits, Orientation and Outreach and Awareness. These initiatives involve fostering partnerships and collaborations that enhance our ability to address the dynamic needs of the energy sector. Through these joint efforts, we aim to create synergies that further advance the Kingdom's energy goals and Vision 2030 objectives.
