Local Content Development Sector

The Local Content Development Sector aims at localizing and developing promising technologies in the renewable energy field as well as localizing and enhancing their value chains. This sector focuses on developing local capabilities in the production and use of renewable energy. It also focuses on supporting innovation and technological advancement in this field.

KACAREGoal  

Technologies Localization Department

The Department aims at increasing the local content by localizing, developing and demonstrating promising technologies in the renewable energy field by working with the ecosystem of universities, research centers and private sector companies to provide innovative solutions for energy production and storage. This is also to find solutions for dealing with the challenges of harsh environmental conditions in the Kingdom and to support the efforts of its commercial investment.The Department’s works contribute to:

  • Reducing the risks associated with the prototype of technologies to be tested and introduced into the Saudi market by sharing risks with the private sector.
  • Supporting the step that is essential for the transition of technologies from laboratories of universities and research centers to the commercial application by proving the success of the technology in testing the prototype of a project that includes designing and building renewable energy technologies localized in the Kingdom.
  • Encouraging and relying on local companies in designing and implementing renewable energy projects.
  • Supporting the Kingdom’s efforts in the renewable energy field and in reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
The Department’s works will lead to:
  • Enabling the private sector to introduce promising technologies to be localized in the Kingdom.
  • Bringing the latest renewable energy technologies to the Kingdom.
  • Promoting support programs to ensure demand for the promising renewable energy technologies.
  • Contributing to the advancement of the Saudi private sector to keep pace with technological developments in the renewable energy field.
  • Establishing industries and providing jobs through the application of new technologies in the renewable energy field.
  • Directing the course of research to keep pace with the industrial and actual challenges required by the market.

Value Chain Localization Department

The Value Chain Localization Department is concerned with studying the value chains in the fields of atomic and renewable energy with the aim of highlighting the promising opportunities for the private sector in the aspects of manufacturing and services. It also aims at meeting its energy needs by using more sustainable sources and examining the most appropriate plans to achieve the desired localization goals. This is done through the joint efforts of parties concerned with the local content of atomic and renewable energy technologies and components including manufacturers, service providers, and government bodies.

The Department's work contributes to:
  • Developing local content for the atomic and renewable energy sectors.
  • Preparing and enabling the local market to achieve the desired localization goals.
  • Increasing awareness and developing the skills and competencies of local manufacturers to participate in atomic energy projects

Strategic Partnerships and Investment Department

Encouraging local investment, attracting foreign investment, and building strategic alliances and partnerships locally and internationally to increase local content, contribute to localization of technology, and make a positive impact on the national economy. The Department’s works contribute to:

  • Developing plans and work programs to establish partnerships and relationships with bodies and organizations in order to support the projects.
  • Identifying opportunities for international strategic partnerships and reviewing requests of partnerships with international parties.
  • Reviewing the list of targeted partners and creating attraction and communication plans and ensuring their implementation.
  • Implementing plans and programs to build relationships and partnerships with bodies and organizations to benefit from leading experiences and practices.
  • Following up on the evaluation of agreements and memorandums of understanding and determining the extent to which they can be used to support and develop businesses.
  • Representing K.A.CARE in international and regional conferences and seminars.
  • Following up on the performance of partners in implementing the terms of agreements and partnerships and resolving any difficulties facing the implementation process.
