Solar Irradiance Estimation using Neural Network Algorithm Model"SIENNA"

This model aim to provide time series with a resolution of 15 minutes, hourly, and monthly covering the entire Kingdom (one file for every ~10 km) containing solar radiation (GHI, DNI, DHI) In addition to temperature, wind speed and humidity, Provide maps of average monthly and annual solar radiation, and Provide Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) files.

Standard Development Program

Support Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) through the RE standards committees, Establish regional test centers across KSA to valuate performance of PV panels and solar systems, Collaborate with universities and national labs to assess rates of degradation of various RE systems, and Develop performance simulation models to simulate RE technologies

Solar desalination techno-economic study

This study aims to Identify the best solar energy system that provides the lowest cost of electricity for water desalination while providing a constant supply of electricity 24/7 by considering multiple cases and scenarios, focus on the main issue with RE which is the variability of electricity produced from sources such as solar, as RO membrane technology requires a steady and continuous supply of electricity, Investigate combinations of solar technologies and energy storage systems (Electrical and Thermal) separately and as a hybrid system to provide a constant supply of electricity: PV technologies, CSP technologies, Battery systems, Thermal energy storage technologies.

Artificial Intelligence Based Monitoring Solution for Solar PV Systems

K.A.CARE aims to leverage the potential of AI-related use cases to improve the performance and reliability of Photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems and optimizing the operation and maintenance of renewable energy systems. Through Study for the feasibility of ML based model system by building a Proof of Concept, Integrate AI system with solar rooftop systems in 3 locations to demonstrate the concept and enhance the O&M, and Evaluating the economic feasibility of each site to ensure cost-effectiveness, and deliberately allocating specific sites for researchers, facilitating them to undertake in-depth scientific studies.

Renewable Resources Atlas is an electronic portal that contains a database of renewable energy resources data in different regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the researchers, public and private sectors in developing new RE technologies. Products of Atlas: Solar resources ground data, Wind resources ground data, Satellite modeled data, Typical Meteorological Year (TMY), Technical consultancy services, and Reports and publications.​​
